In the same way that parents have a hard time keeping up with the latest internet slang, so too does the FBI which is why the government organization put together its manual on the latest terms and abbreviations.
As reported by input, the FBI has its 83-web page guide on internet slang that you may examine for yourself at the net Archive.
It’s worth noting that the FBI’s large encyclopedia of net slang is a bit dated through today’s requirements Aas it was obtained back in 2014 through a Freedom of information Act (FOIA) request filed by the non-profit MuckRock whose intention is to make politics greater transparent while retaining the authorities accountable. The FBI’s internet slang manual becomes uploaded to the net Archive for posterity and incorporates 2,800 entries with the full-size majority of them being abbreviations for Twitter shorthand. But, the guide also incorporates entries on not unusual symbols located online together with using <3> for the heart.

Along with familiar terms like “LOL” and “BRB”, the FBI’s internet slang manual also has a few more unusual entries such as ALOTBSOL always appear on the bright facet of life, BIOYIOP blows it out your I/O port, DENT, GIS and more.
In step with a report launched back in 2014 when the FBI’s internet slang manual first became publicly available, the word list of terms became prepared by the authorities Government Intelligence research assist Unit and was defined as useful for “keeping up” with children and grandchildren.
Even though we now know what the FBI became looking for online nearly a decade ago, it’d be interesting to take a look at the employer’s latest net slang courses which have likely ballooned in length now that more and more of our daily lives are spent online.
