It’s a throwback take on Nikon Z FC entrance mirrorless cam, the Nikon Z50, with added capabilities including full-time focussing on the eye.
The photos that are taken from 1967 35mm Nikkormat FTN feel powerful and it is the metal body with the mechanical springs, gears, and levers that create the loud satisfying clunk. With every shutter press and deep zip when advancing the film. The silver metal body with black faux leather accents has proven to be not only timeless and eye-catching, but it is incredibly durable. The aperture, shutter speed, and ISO settings are located around the barrel of the lens and make it quick. Although great images have been captured by this camera and using the FTN is an incredibly fun and satisfying experience.
Nikon’s newest entry-level micro less camera and have the rear exact digital replica of the camera, but Z FC was not meant to digitally replicate classic. But instead, inspire the new generation to carry cameras outside of their phones. The photos with it have 16 to 50mm kit lens are sharp and very smooth. Raw files provide a lot of room for brightening shadows and bringing down the highlights. But, it has a slow camera that can’t find any particular object to focus on and will do a fair amount of hunting once the point is locked on.
Green focus assist light is bright and draws lots of attention to itself. Z FC is a plastic take on Nikon 35mm cameras and shares the same retro look with an iconic silver body. With the plastic parts, the light-weighted cameras feel like toys. High pitched click of the pulling out the articulating screen, battery compartment, and plastic body made the camera’s durability well.
Nikon Z FC is a good entry-level camera, for the fashion-forward folks and users can be motivated to carry this camera everywhere because of its retro design. Z FC is a great camera for $959.95, but it does not provide the same thing and experience of the camera Nikon designed it to look like. The looks can attract the audience and those who want to be part of the photographer without carrying heavy gear that was once needed to be one.
