eBay now allows the users to get a 360-degree look at some of the sneakers it has for sale its handy 3D viewing tool is called eBay 3D view. On the official eBay website, the e-commerce platform said that the feature lets the sellers add interactive images of their sneakers to listings. It is contracting with Unity, a platform that can be used for real-time 3D modeling and to pilot the feature.
Starting from this month, eBay says that select sneakers retailers will get the chance images will only be visible from its IOS or on Android App. To use it, sellers will have to use the proprietary app to take the video of their sneakers from all perspectives. The data is uploaded to the Cloud and processed using the Artificial Technology or methodology that eBay didn’t elaborate about and resulting in what eBay says is a photorealistic 3D recreation of the product.
But this feature is only available to a limited number of sellers for now. eBay plans to expand and enlarge it in the year 2022. The sneaker sellers interested in using the 3D feature can sign up for the Waitlist. On the website, this feature is live on and if users are on mobile can start viewing sneakers in 3D from here. It seems like not every listing has the 3D viewer for this time. Though, so you might have to tap some different ones before you find the listing that uses the 3D view.
eBay continues to jump first into the sneaker market. They rolled out the sneaker authentication service to help combat counterfeiters and behind schedule bought out 3rd party sneaker authentication service that it was using known as ‘Sneaker Con’. But, this is not the first online marketplace to implement 3D views of sneakers. However, Stock X has been offering 360-degree images of sneakers since the year 2016.
